Dr Simon Padley is Consultant Radiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital and at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS FTs. He is a Reader in Imaging in the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London. He received his medical undergraduate education at Westminster Medical School. His specialist radiology training was at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and he spent a year undertaking a fellowship in thoracic imaging in Vancouver General Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, member of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging, British Society of Thoracic Imaging, Society of Cardiovascular CT, British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, CIRSE and ESR.
Dr Padley is a cardiac and thoracic radiologist, as well as an interventional radiologist. Dr Padley co-initiated the cardiac CT programme and the Royal Brompton Hospital, is the trust lead for cancer imaging. He provides interventional radiology services related to lung cancerand vascular intervention. His technical skills include complex lung intervention, including biopsy, fiducial marker placement, radiofrequency and microwave ablation, endovascular stenting, venous access and the bronchial artery embolisation.
Dr Padley has a record in imaging research, extending over 20 years, and resulting in more than 100 pier reviewed publications on a variety of imaging and interventional related subjects. Recently, the majority of his academic output has related to the growing utility of cardiac CT in the adult and a paediatric population.
