Mr Hamann is a highly experienced consultant ENT surgeon who has worked as an ENT surgeon for over 16 years. During the course of his career he has performed well over ten thousand procedures. He manages all general ENT conditions and has a sub-specialist interest in conditions of the nose and sinuses, allergy, voice disorders, paediatric ENT, thyroid cancer and snoring.
His NHS practice is based at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital. He is also an honorary consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. He is a member of several multi-disciplinary teams, working with other consultants and healthcare professionals across specialties where required.
Mr Hamann trained at King’s College, London, prior to undertaking his specialist training in South East England. He received advanced training in nasal reconstructive and endoscopic sinus surgery at Guy’s Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital and in paediatric ENT surgery at the Evelina Children’s Hospital. He has extensive experience both in carrying out routine ENT procedures and in performing complex and revision surgery. His experience and reputation mean he is frequently consulted for second opinions.
However, surgery is not always the most appropriate course of action for many ENT conditions. While Mr Hamann is able to perform state of the art surgery, he is also able to advise on the most up to date non-surgical treatments.
He is actively involved in research and the development of medical technology, and is widely recognised as a leader in the field of medical innovation. In collaboration with experts in the field, he has led the development of a smartphone otoscope for performing ear examinations and software applications to improve communication in healthcare. His work in this area has won multiple awards. His hope is that this technology will improve access to healthcare in the developing world.
As part of his ongoing commitment to patient safety and high-quality healthcare he has taken on the role of Chair of the Clinical Governance committee, and sits on the medical advisory committee, of a highly respected private hospital.
